World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day is being celebrated today. In honor of its awareness, Orange County is hosting a number of activities throughout the community. It is important for individuals to continue to support the cure for AIDS and recognize the individuals who suffer not only in the United States but around the world. With our efforts and continual increase in knowledge, hopefully one day we can live in an AIDS free world.

Today’s Events Include:
Shanti Orange County will offer free HIV testing at Cobblestone Park in Laguna Beach, followed by a 5 p.m. vigil.

Saddleback church is hosting “An Evening of Hope” with Kay Warren from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Refinery Auditorium. Here’s a description from the event Web site:

On World AIDS Day, come and be a part of an event that will shed light on the state of HIV and AIDS around the world, but also the source of HOPE that is being delivered through the compassion of ordinary people in local churches worldwide. This will include a time of prayer, testimonies, opportunities to get involved, great music and an inspiring message from Kay Warren! Come early for $1 tacos, and free coffee and deserts in the Refinery.

UC Irvine medical students will place 1,250 red flags on campus and at UCI Medical Center in Orange to raise AIDS awareness. Each flag represents 20,000 people who have died of AIDS. More than half will be planed in Aldrich Park to form a red bow. At noon, students and faculty will hold a moment of silence before speakers.

Help Support the Cure for AIDS and join us in raising the hope and fight against HIV and AIDS.
